PTA will issue 3G licences to mobil operators
Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) chairman Muhammad Yaseen has said that PTA will issue 3G spectrum licences to mobile operators.
PTA chairman told CNBC, the regulator is focused on expanding affordable broadband services in the country and 3G will form part of those plans.
He informed that the required spectrum has been earmarked and “all the ground work is completed”. The PTA will soon invite applications for the auction, and the ministry of IT&T is being consulted on the final procedures for licensing.
Pakistan has over 90 million mobile users, with the market growing at a rate of around two million new customers per month, he added.
